Start at TU Delft’s Research Data Management Page.
A Data Management Plan is a document that describes how you will handle research data during and after a research project. It covers aspects such as data collection, storage, sharing, and archiving. A DMP is essential to manage data efficiently, effectively, and securely, reducing the risk of data loss, degradation, and threats that may render the data unusable.
At TU Delft, if you’re working with personal research data, it’s mandatory to create a DMP using DMPOnline with the TU Delft template.
Use DMPOnline, a tool that allows you to create, review, and share data management plans that meet funder requirements. It’s customized for TU Delft, so you will find a familiar interface with local support, infrastructure, and services.
The DMP template at TU Delft consists of two sections:
Once you start writing your DMP in DMPonline, Data Stewards at TU Delft get alerted and can offer proactive support. You also have the option of having your full DMP reviewed by the Faculty Data Steward, using the ‘request feedback’ button in DMPonline. This tool allows collaboration on a single template, ensuring everyone is working on the same version simultaneously.
If your research project involves personal data, you’ll be directed from the DMP template to the Ethics Committee for ethical approval and to the Privacy Team for advice on DPIA, as needed. When submitting the ethics application, the Ethics Committee will check whether the DMP has been approved by the Data Steward and if sufficient measures will be taken to protect the interests of vulnerable individuals.
