Most information is found in the official documentation (see relevant links). Underneath, some quick and dirty ways to get started using LinMot Talk.
After installing the software, the first thing you probably want to do is scan for connected devices.
You need to make sure you connect your drive through the Ethernet Configuration port (see the manual), instead of the RT Ethernet Port.
After connecting the device (and making sure it has power), go to File->Scanning (via Ethernet)
and see if you can find the drive you connected.
When you’re going to work with EtherCAT, you can install LinMot Talk just to acquire the LinMot ESI files (see EtherCAT Configurator). Important note here is that you should install the latest version of the software before grabbing these files, as newer drives might not be included in older ESI files.
You can find these files under:
C:\Program Files (x86)\LinMot\LinTalk {VERSION} Build {BUILD}\Firmware\Interfaces\EtherCAT\XML\
,C:\Program Files (x86)\LinMot\LinMot-Talk {VERSION} Build {BUILD}\Firmware\Interfaces\EtherCAT_ML\XML\
.C:\Program Files (x86)\LinMot\LinMot-Talk {VERSION} Build {BUILD}\Firmware\Interfaces\EtherCAT_SoE\XML\
